Laura Brueck is an Assistant Professor of Hindi Literature in the Department of Asian Languages and Civilizations at the University of Colorado at Boulder. She works primarily in the field of Hindi Dalit literature. She recently published “Mainstreaming Marginalized Voices: the Dalit Lekhak Sangh and the Negotiations over Hindi Dalit Literature” in Claiming Voices from Below: Dalits and the Subaltern Question in India (Oxford University Press, 2008) and her article “Good Dalits vs. Bad Brahmins: Melodramatic Realism in the Short Fiction of Dalit Writers in India” is forthcoming in South Asia Review.
