Nafeesa Syeed

Nafeesa Syeed is an award-winning journalist, whose reporting spans the U.S., South Asia, Middle East, and North Africa. Most recently, she served as a national security correspondent for Bloomberg News in Washington, reporting on foreign policy, defense, intelligence, and cybersecurity. She was also a Middle East correspondent in Bloomberg's Dubai bureau. Previously, Nafeesa worked as a producer on Peabody-winning and Emmy-nominated documentaries at Fault Lines on Al Jazeera English. As a staff writer at The Associated Press in Washington, her beats included presidential elections, Congress, and federal law enforcement agencies. Nafeesa is the co-author of Arab Women Rising (Wharton, 2014). Additionally, she has worked for The Caravan, USA Today, Indianapolis Star, and the Austin-American Statesman. Her work has also appeared in The Wall Street Journal, Christian Science Monitor, Al-Monitor, The Guardian, Rolling Stone, VICE, Tehelka, Guernica, Quartz, and The Believer. She earned her BA from Georgetown University and MA from SOAS, University of London.
